Why use us?

Good editorial feedback can transform your work, and can help transform you as a writer. Poor editorial feedback may send you chasing off down mistaken paths or give you a false idea of how near your work is to saleability.

The Writers' Workshop aims to give you the best editorial feedback available anywhere. We also want to give you the best follow-up service - using our muscle and knowhow to place strong authors with the best agents and publishers.

Our philosophy

We are uncompromising in our search for excellence. We will not flatter or deceive you. We will apply to your work the same standards that agents and publishers use themselves. That means that our editorial assessments are deliberately challenging - it also means that your work stands the best possible chance of ultimate success.

Our ethos

We also believe in friendliness and support. Writing can be a tough, lonely game and you may well need a shoulder to cry on, or a friendly voice to consult. We're here for that too. If you can, you should come to our Festival of Writing. That event is a wonderful place to learn and an extraordinary place to network and build contacts. But most of all, it's a chance for writers to come together, to meet and inspire each other. That's a big part of what we're about.

Our editors

Nearly all our editors are professional authors, with a track record of success with major international publishers. Between us we've written countless books, been translated into dozens of languages, and won or been shortlisted for countless awards. Because we have so many editors to choose from, we will have someone who is right for you and your book.

Those of our editors who are not professional authors are all current or former editors with major international publishing houses. We choose editors known for their excellence and market-feel. Quite simply, we have the best editorial staff in the world.

Our follow-up

When and if your work is strong enough to sell, we are relentless in seeking to get it placed with top quality literary agents. We don't charge for this and there is no time limit for the service. If you're a client of ours and if your work is strong enough to sell, we'll be here for you as long as you need us.

We also boast what is, almost certainly, the strongest contacts-book of any editorial consultancy in the world. We know people from the CEOs of major international publishing companies right down to new literary agents, hungry for clients. We will put those resources - and all our associated expertise - at your disposal.

Our authority

You don't have to take these things on trust.

WW founder, Harry Bingham, has literally written the book on Getting Published and on How to Write. He's also a bestselling author who has been published in the UK, the US, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, China - and plenty of other places too. He's been short- and long-listed for major awards. He's sold fiction and non-fiction and knows the current publishing market as well as anyone can.
