Feedback

For the Lovely Jon Spira

Here at the Writers' Workshop, we don't expect you to take our word for how good we are.

Which is why we list all our editors, and share our feedback with you. It should speak for itself.

Jon's screenwriting teaching is well structured, practical, and full of references to a diverse range of films. Jon is an energetic and inspiring teacher and I really feel my screenwriting has progressed as a result of being on the course. - Matthew Dixon

A cohesive course, delivered in a style that encourages group bonding - but not in a fey way! Enjoyable and useful to the last and fully recommended. - M.J.Wroe

As a screenwriting teacher Jon brings three essential elements to the mix that are strangely absent from many others who would claim the title. First and foremost he is a passionate film watcher. Jon's love of film is infectious and he has a willingness to discuss and accept other points of view.
Secondly, Jon actually _is_ a professional screenwriter and has written for television and produced his own films and music videos. This gives him a relevant knowledge of the market that prospective screenwriters will be entering. Thus allowing not only a creative toolset to be taught but the essential, _essential_, factors involved in marketing and selling a screenplay.
Thirdly and most rarest amongst tutors of any discipline is the power to inspire students. You can't impart talent, you can only equip students for the hard work they must carry out themselves. Inspiration is, perhaps, the most important tool. Knowledge can show the way. But what will keep a person pushing forward against all odds is inspiration that they are doing something important. Like all great teachers, Jon offers this gift to any who will take it. - Robin Mayfield
