Payment options

Cheque. Make payable to The Writers' Workshop.

Mastercard / Visa. Please call us on 01869 347040 to give card details - or ask us to call you.

Paypal. You do not need to be a member, and pay-ments only take a few moments to make. Please ask us to email you with a paypal payment button.

Other methods. We can also take bankers drafts, or accept payment via wire transfer. Please see bottom of this web page for our wire transfer details.

Please also note ...

• All manuscripts (except filmscripts) should be sent to us in 12 point text, double-spaced and with normal margins. Sending pages looseleaf is fine. There's no need for binders, files, boxes, paperclips, or anything else. (For double line spacing, just go the Para Format menu in your word processing program, and select Line Spacing, then Double - easy).

• Do make sure that your name, phone number, and email address are included on the title page of your MS: you wouldn't believe how often we get nameless, numberless, email-less scripts. Please also state word count on your title page - this is helpful to editors & agents alike.

• We are very careful with your manuscript, but please make sure you have a backed-up copy of your own.

If return of the manuscript is required, please enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope. On the whole though, you may prefer to save yourself the money. If you're about to start making revisions, then the manuscript may not be of much use to you.

• We are very happy to accept submissions by email, but we do make a 10p / page charge for printing off.

Covering letter

• We suggest that you include a covering letter which tells us:

i) what kind of book it is - crime, romance, literary, etc

ii) What specific concerns you have, if any,

iii) What contact you may have had with agents and / or publishers so far; and

iv) anything about yourself you'd like us to know - age, occupation, ambitions, that sort of thing.

None of this is essential, but it helps us focus on the things that matter for you.

You may have told us some of this by phone / email already, but it never hurts to repeat it. Your covering letter goes straight to your editor with your manuscript, so it's your chance to address them directly.

Overseas payments

• Overseas manuscripts are always very welcome. We can take payment by wire transfer, Paypal, or by Visa / Mastercard. We are also delighted to take manuscripts via email. If you want to make an international wire transfer, you will need the following details:
