WHY
WE'RE DIFFERENT
_________________________________________________________________
A
As
writers ourselves, we understand that your manuscript
is very precious to you. We know what it feels like
to have a manuscript which isn’t yet right.
So our objective has been to create the best editorial
service that exists anywhere – the one we’d
want if we were you.
This
page should answer many of your questions. But if
you're interested or curious or want to know more,
please contact us.
If we can't help you ourselves, we probably know someone
who can.

We
give you more time.
Getting a manuscript from first draft to finished
work can be more taxing than writing the orginal
draft. Getting it right can involve lots of
work - and lots of time.
Because we keep our overheads low, we can afford to attract and keep the very best writer-editors in the business.
And because we pay more, we insist that
they do more. We won't be satisfied
until you are.
We
use the best consultants.
All our consultants are writers themselves.
That means they don't just know what's wrong
with a manuscript, they know what needs to
be done to put it right. As well as being
first rate novelists, our consultants usually
also have a back-

ground
in creative writing and / or editorial work.
We are rigorous in selecting our consultants
- and even then we monitor every client-consultant
interaction to make sure that clients are
left completely satisfied. See Editors for more.

We
have excellent links with the best agents
in town.
We have strong contacts with some of London's
leading agents, including specialists in both
adults and childrens fiction. If we like your
book enough to recommend it, we can guarantee
that we will get it read with attention by
some of the best literary agents in London.
If your book is good enough, it will
get taken on.
We
are always market-aware.
We know that your ultimate aim is to get published
if at all possible. Most of our effort (and
yours) should be directed to making your book
as good as it can possibly be. But market
considerations come into it too, and we never
lose sight of these. As writers ourselves,
we are in an excellent position to give you
a steer on what works, what doesn't.

We
know that feedback means dialogue.
Most consultancies collect a fee, send you
a report, and that's it. No interaction. No
dialogue. That means that the most valuable
part of any editorial process has been left
out altogether. We refuse to work like that
and put discussion and debate at the heart
of everything we do. In our view, any other
way of working is just ridiculous.
We
are always kind.
It is intimidating showing your work to a
stranger. We know this, and will always give
you respect and honesty. We are always
careful to bring out the good points of a
piece, and will be sensitive to your concerns.
Our
customer feedback is awesome.
Unsurprisingly, our feedback from clients
is usually superb. One man wrote
"I might even have dedicated
[my book] to you for having restored
my faltering faith in my writing, if
my late wife who always believed in
me weren't owed that."
The
original copies of all our testimonials
can be viewed at our offices. For more
comments, browse the site, or check
out our Feedback
page.
