We have had some tremendous feedback on the course:

You’ve cemented some of what I knew and I’ve learned a lot of new things. It’s been fantastic. I will definitely recommend this course to anyone I meet... I feel a lot better prepared to move forward and finally stop editing my damn book (a lot more confident and excited too)'  C. Michaels

You have covered so many important aspects pertinent to preparing a book, what to write, how to perceive the best way to get noticed - all of it necessary. This course is brilliant and I'll be recommending it to anyone who asks 'what was it like?'Newbie'

Course Syllabus

Week One - On Your Marks...

Self-publishing has moved on dramatically since the dark days of vanity publishing and boxes of books under your bed that you can’t possibly sell! This session is designed to introduce you to the new world of self-publishing, with all the technical jargon explained. What is the difference between a mobi file and an epub, and why do you need to know? What does KDP stand for? What is assisted self-publishing and how much does it cost? By the end of Week One you will have a complete overview of self-publishing, and a clear understanding of your place within it and what you can expect to achieve.

Week Two - Get Ready

Now it’s time to get your own book ready for publication. Have you made sure it’s as perfect as possible? What about editing and proofreading? Learn about Beta Readers and how to find them. One of the most important marketing tools you will ever have is your book’s cover – learn what makes a great cover and how to avoid cover mistakes. Formatting, cover design, typesetting, POD publishing, and pre-launch activities such as Press Releases and organising blog tours are all covered in Week Two. By the end of this session you will be fully prepared to take the plunge and begin tackling the technical aspects of publishing your book.

Week Three - Go!

This week you will find out how to upload your ebook to Amazon, including a step-by-step guide to the KDP platform. We will look at how to set your price, Amazon categories, what is meant by ‘meta-data’ and how you can make yours brilliant, and learn how to write that all important book description and sales copy. By the end of this week you will have everything you need in order to press ‘Publish’ and launch your book out into the world. Get the Champagne ready!

Week Four - Now The Hard Work Starts

In Week Four we will discover what happens after publishing – just how do you get people to find your book, let alone to buy a copy? Using real figures and examples from top-selling authors, you will build your own personal marketing plan to take you to success – with this book and the next!

Review of Self-publishing success10th February 2017
By Thomas Garbutt
Enjoyable course - very helpful to have the notes and some recommendations for how to market the book. Of particular use were the suggestions for reputable self-publishers as I have always been a little suspicious! Jo (tutor) was very cheerful, very encouraging and gave useful feedback. This is my first WW course and I would do another.
